Upcoming Summer Events to add to your calendar
The Lyme Library will have a number of fun and educational activities happening all summer including:
A salute to David Ruggles: The library will be hosting a week of live and Zoom events to celebrate the life and work of Lyme’s native son and African-American hero for racial justice, David Ruggles. The week’s activities will be taking place from June 22nd to June 28th.
In addition to our on-going beginner’s yoga classes with Joan Fishler and Lisa Terenzio of Red Barn yoga, the Lyme library is honored to have internationally known yoga instructor Chrissy Carter hosting a series of “intermediate” yoga classes at the library on June 4th and 18th and July 9th and 23rd.
Needless to say…our children’s summer reading programs will be starting up at the end of the school year. Our Youth Services Librarian, Ms. Natalie has a number of creative and educational activities for family’s to participate in to help defeat the “summer slump” and help kids to continue reading and learning all summer long
The Library Director, Melissa Fournier, is thrilled to be able to host a number of very important programs that have on-going impacts on our community and society, including our Racial Equity Book Club (meeting via Zoom each month), a program called “Breaking the Chains of Addiction : A Community Call to Action with Karen Bernetti” (July 10th at 6:00pm) and “Reshaping the Food System: A Conversation with Haven Harvest’s Executive Director Lori Martin” on July 22nd @ 6:00pm. Check out our program schedule for other educational programs for adults taking place all summer long
And…To help you get outside and enjoy the New England landscape, we will be hosting Steve Fagin, author of “The Best Hikes in Connecticut and Rhode Island” on June 5th at 6:00pm. So get out your hiking boots and take advantage of everything New England has to offer this summer.
So…We’ve got you covered (like intellectual sunscreen!) all summer long at the Lyme Library. We wish you all a safe, fun and life-changing summer. See you at the library!
