Poetry as Memoir: A Workshop with Bessy Reyna

Award-winning poet and journalist Bessy Reyna will be leading a “poetry as memoir” workshop at the Lyme Public Library

Each of us has a wonderful untold story waiting to be told.  But, in trying to choose which story to tell, we find ourselves  trying to figure out which memories we want to explore and how best to write them. In this workshop we will read poems in which many poets share important moments in their lives, writing about their families, personal relationships,  their adolescence and more. These poems will guide us to find our own experiences to help us recreate the memories  we will be exploring and writing. Participants are encouraged to bring a photo or look at one from their phone and writing materials to the workshop.
