Erik Hesselberg will be appearing at the Lyme Public Library to make a presentation about his new book Night Boat to New York: Steamboats on the Connecticut, 1815-1931.
The steamboats that plied the waters of Connecticut River from 1815-1931 not only brought people and goods to the areas that they serviced but also helped establish a seashore “spa culture” and a social phenomenon noted by such famous writers as Charles Dickens and Mark Twain.
