April/May/June 2018 Programs



Drop-in Preschool Story Hour – Ages 2-5 – Wednesdays, April 4th and 11th from 10:30 – 11:15

The final two sessions of spring Drop-in Story Hour will be held on April 4th and 11th.. In addition to being fun, story hour helps develop language and social skills that children need to succeed and foster intellectual curiosity. Each session will feature stories on a particular theme followed by a related activity or craft. 



Art and Books with Kristen Thornton for Grades K-5, Wednesday, May 9 at 3:15 P.M.

Kristen Thornton will conduct after school art programs which will feature a story, based on a recent or notable children’s book, and art activity.


May 9 – Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt by Kate Messner/ group painted mural

Toying with Science with Kristen Thornton for Grades 3-5, Wednesday, May 16 at 3:15 P.M.

Each session will explore a principle of physics or chemistry by making something fun that works, with everyday materials!


May 16 – Engineering with levers and fulcrums

Open Studio – Still Life with Kristen Thornton (Grades 6-12) Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M. through June 12.

Students will recreate Still Life exhibits from their choice of media and materials, i.e. painting (watercolors/oils) or drawing (charcoals/pastels.) Kristen Thornton will guide them through their projects as they work at their individual paces. Materials will be supplied for all programs, but students may bring their own supplies if they choose.  Limited to 10 participants.  Please call or email programreg@lymepl.org to register. There will be no class on April 17th  due to school vacation week. This program will take a break after June 12 until the summer session begins in July.



The theme of this year’s summer reading program is Libraries Rock! Join Kristen Thornton for activities related to the theme on the following dates from 6:30-7:30 P.M.
